I know everyone says a person "goes above and beyond" but Ana truly does this. She has been instrumental in revamping our extern program. The time she has spent on research alone blows my mind. Ana invests time and energy into each extern making sure they feel welcomed, informed, and most importantly, she makes certain they see Christ in her and our hospitals. The program has been so successful that CHRISTUS SWLA has gone from 8 to 85 externs in 1 year. Now we present our program to other CHRISTUS hospitals.

Remember when I said Ana goes above and beyond? She is the ER educator. She did not have to take on the extern revamp. She saw a need and did not hesitate. She could have said, "It's not my job" or "I don't have time." Ana also helps in the ER when they are short-staffed. I've seen her work in the office and then work well into the night as an ER nurse. On top of all this, Ana is a clinical instructor at MSU. She brings student nurses into our hospital to teach them not only nursing skills, but also to extend grace to difficult patients, compassion to co-workers, and love for the career. Ana lives to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
