September 2013 Honoree
ana eastman, RN, BSN, PCCN
Ana made it possible for a terminally ill gentleman to see his daughter get married while he was a patient in the ICU. She orchestrated a miniature wedding ceremony as well as a reception for the patient's daughter, her fiancee and some family members. The ceremony was documented by a professional photographer and officiated by a chaplain. Ana decorated the patient's room, provided silverware, a bouquet for the bride, created a "dressing room," and provided a wedding cake and a vocalist. This was all done on her day off! The wedding was originally scheduled for a Friday, but when the patient's condition suddenly deteriorated, it was moved last minute to the preceding Wednesday. Unfortunately, the patient passed away a few days later, but because of Ana's efforts, his daughter got to have her dad at her wedding.
Thank you, Ana, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
