Ana Marie is possibly the hardest working nurse I have ever met in my 35-year career as a nurse. She is calm, easy to get along with and is always striving to help our veterans and our own team. If she has a spare minute, she will be offering assistance to the other nurses in our clinic. She does all this with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She clearly is motivated to go the extra mile at work.
She serves as a leader by example to all of us. Her empathetic, supportive tone whether face to face with a veteran, or on the telephone makes me stop in my tracks some days, and try to be more like her in my work day. Her demeanor improves mine and helps me do my job better. She is a true team player and her naturally flexible disposition leads her to provide a strong backbone to our busy work days.
She goes above and beyond to make sure our patients are prepared for their clinic visits. She is relentless in her pursuit to follow-up with our veterans and make sure they have appointment details, correct lab orders, x-rays and transportation to the clinic. Ana Marie works with our team social worker regularly to expedite bus passes and transportation assistance to make life a little easier for everyone. She frequently stays later after her shift ends to finish up details.
Our veterans love her and ask for her by name. I have seen her take a wheelchair down to the parking lot to bring a veteran up to the clinic for an appointment. I have seen her sit with a patient waiting to catch a shuttle back to the main hospital when they were not feeling well. She is gentle and caring. She is also very humble. Ana Marie is a true DAISY Nurse.
