I am writing to enthusiastically nominate Ana Mezquita for the prestigious DAISY Award. Ana served as the lead nurse for my father during his challenging time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he battled a high spinal cord injury and was on life support. 

From the very beginning of our journey with Ana, it was evident that she possessed extraordinary clinical skills and an exceptional level of compassion. Ana not only provided expert medical care to my father but also took the time to ensure that our family felt comfortable and supported throughout the entire process. Her ability to balance clinical excellence with genuine human connection made a profound impact on our experience. 

Ana went above and beyond what one might expect from a nurse. She consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the well-being of her patients and their families. Her compassion extended beyond the medical necessities; she tended to our emotional needs, offering words of comfort and reassurance during an incredibly difficult time. Ana's kindness, empathy, and unwavering dedication truly set her apart. 

Despite the unfortunate outcome, the passing of my father, I am certain that Ana Mezquita did everything in her power to ensure he received the best possible care. Her tireless efforts and compassionate approach made a significant difference in the quality of my father's final moments.
 
In honoring Ana with the DAISY Award, we celebrate not only her exceptional clinical skills but also the profound impact she had on the lives of those she cared for. Ana is a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated and compassionate nurse, and I believe she is highly deserving of this special recognition.
