Andrea Becker 2, BSN, RN

Andrea is constantly going above and beyond for her patients. I am a speech therapist, and I see Andrea constantly working collaboratively with the therapy department to make sure her critically ill and medically complex patients are getting the rehab/therapy when they need it the most, which is at the beginning of their journey in the hospital. Andrea is constantly providing us with updates on their status, orientation & level of alertness, and providing the patient every opportunity to be seen by therapy, while acknowledging our busy schedules.

In one particular instance, the patient needed to be nurse transported out of the ICU for a swallow study at the last minute, and Andrea did not hesitate or have any complaints. She was very excited for her patient to have the opportunity and possibility to be put on a diet. Not only did Andrea help coordinate this patient’s transport, but she also brought along her nursing student for a valuable teaching opportunity. Through this experience, I saw what a wonderful preceptor and teacher Andrea is and not only how much she cares for her patients but also the future of nursing. The medical field is very lucky to have her!
