During a busy ER day, we had an EMS patient who was on hospice who came in for a therapeutic thoracentesis. After the patient's procedure, he started actively dying. Andrea took the time out her own day to sit and comfort this patient. He had no family with him and only a sister on the east side of the state. Andrea held his hand and comforted him for 2 hours while we waited for his hospice nurse to arrive. Andrea exemplifies nursing and is an example to all of us.
