She stayed by my side and reassured me & provided such a huge amount of physical and emotional support that I have never received from any other healthcare worker in my lifetime.
At 35 weeks pregnant, I was sent to the hospital to be induced due to preeclampsia concerns. I wanted to do everything I could to avoid a C-section. However, after 4 days, & attempting every induction method possible, I did end up delivering via C-section. At one point during one of those evenings, while being extremely uncomfortable due to one of the induction methods & very painful contractions, I started to have a mental health meltdown. I was in so much pain that I couldn’t even communicate or figure out what I wanted or needed in the moment. Andrea was my nurse during this time. She stayed by my side and reassured me & provided such a huge amount of physical and emotional support that I have never received from any other healthcare worker in my lifetime. I was on the edge, and she definitely pulled me back. I did end up receiving a C-section, however, she stayed by my side each step of the way & was in the delivery room when our daughter was born. I will be forever thankful for her amazing bedside manner and professionalism at a time when I needed it most. Even though my husband was present, this was our first baby, and he didn’t know how to help me in the moment. Andrea knew exactly what to say and do for me. She is a prime example of an excellent nurse and deserves this recognition.
