Andrea makes me a better nurse, this unit a better unit, and this world a little bit kinder every time she badges in and puts on her stethoscope. I have known and worked with her for 10-plus years, and you will not find a more professional, caring, compassionate, and nurturing nurse in all of LSC. She always strives to give her patients the best care possible with a gentle smile and genuine kindness that can’t help but get noticed. Her knowledge and skills are top-notch, and she is always willing to help her coworkers. She is constantly improving by working shifts in the IMCU to hone her skills. I am writing this nomination because no matter what the situation, what she has going on at home, or what’s going on around her, Andrea is a calming presence and advocates for what is right, a genuine human being who I follow into battle. The fact that she doesn’t have 10 of these blows my mind!

I have been working with Andrea for approximately seven years. Andrea is one of the most passionate patient advocates I have ever met or worked with. When Andrea has a patient who has difficult behaviors, she consistently goes above and beyond to help the patient feel safe and well cared for, and the patient is always at the center of her efforts. Andrea will do whatever it takes to ensure her patients receive the best care possible. She recently had a patient with PEA arrest. PTA and Cardiology canceled their angiogram. Andrea discussed this with the cardiologist to ensure that the best care plan was in place for this patient. Andrea influences those around her to be their best as well. In addition to her excellent bedside manner and skills as an amazing patient advocate, Andrea works hard to continue educating herself by expanding her skill base by becoming a participant in the IMCU bridge program.
