My mother was panicking and Andrea was able to calm her down, which was greatly appreciated.
My mother is a traumatic brain injury survivor, who has been through a very rough recovery since the original incident. She suddenly became deaf in one ear and severely reduced hearing in the opposite ear. Mom takes care of my father who has had multiple myeloma for several years. Needless to say, my mother was scared, irritated, and a challenge. Mom went out of her way to call me at home and tell me Andrea Endress RN was having to deal with her stressing about new deafness in both ears. Andrea was very comforting to my mother and stated that, "I know I am just a nurse, but we would recommend you go to the ED." Mom was upset and did not want to go, however, wanted to inform Andrea RN that, "She is not ONLY a nurse. She is a Nurse!" Mom wanted to let Andrea know of her value to the institution and what a good job she did in dealing with Mom on a very difficult call. My mother was panicking and Andrea was able to calm her down, which was greatly appreciated. She has been through many issues post brain injury and stated that Andrea sets the standard for great care and her kindness should be modeled.
