Andrea Frazier, RN
I would like to recognize Andrea for the exceptional compassion, dedication, and patient advocacy she has shown to my family over the past year. Unfortunately, we have become very familiar with the hospital.
Our first experience with her was when she provided excellent care for my stepfather last May. Since then, she has also cared for my daughter and has been my mother’s nurse on two separate occasions. Throughout every encounter, she has consistently demonstrated kindness, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to her patients.
Most recently, my mother was in need of emergent care. It was a very difficult experience. After watching my mother suffer in severe pain and cry for help for a few hours, I approached the only staff member I saw actively working nearby.
Although this nurse was not assigned to my mother’s care, she immediately took ownership of the situation. She listened to our concerns, contacted the physician, and advocated for my mother. Within a short time, my mother received an IV, blood work was completed, and she was finally given pain medication.
Her willingness to step in and advocate for a patient who was not even under her care made an enormous difference during a very stressful and emotional time.
The following day, my mother had to return to the Emergency Department. Before my mother was transferred upstairs, this nurse took the time to stop by our room simply to check on us. That gesture meant more than words can express. It showed that she truly cares about her patients and their families, not just during her assigned duties, but as people.
She is the kind of nurse every patient hopes to have. She is compassionate, caring, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond when someone is in need. Her actions provided comfort and relief during some of our family’s most difficult moments, and we are incredibly grateful that she serves our community.
This nurse exemplifies everything the DAISY Award represents.
