My grandfather was in the heart hospital to have a valve replaced in his heart. My mother had been there with him the whole day, and I got to the hospital around 3 p.m. My mother and grandfather (the patient) were telling me that he was in good hands, and he had a very good nurse. After meeting the nurse, she was incredible! My grandfather was having some pain in his abdomen, and she very quickly addressed the issue. When she had to wait for the doctor to place the order, she kept us informed the whole time and ensured our concerns were met!
In addition to this, when my mother was expressing some concerns about my grandfather's chest pain, she did not blow it off at all; she checked his vitals multiple times, ordered a chest X-ray, and listened to his chest! She told us everything she was doing and explained and educated us in great detail! Moreover, when my grandfather had a questionable moment with his cognition, she took it very seriously and checked his neurological state several times. She took her time and had a conversation with him about my grandfather's cattle and him cutting hay when he was younger. She also talked to us about her family's cattle farm, and it helped my grandpa relax and made all of us feel at ease!
Overall, Andrea was an amazing nurse who demonstrated that she truly cares about the patients and the families!!
