Andrea Hunter, RN, BSN, CCRN

Andrea creates an environment where she leads the example to care for patients and their families with compassion. The Trauma ICU treated an elderly woman for life-threatening injuries after a motor vehicle collation. The patient was transported to the hospital with her dog who was also injured in the motor vehicle collision. Andrea quickly acknowledge the dog's needs as he was an important part of the patient’s life. Andrea obtained permission from the patient and family to seek medical treatment for the dog. Andrea fostered and healed the dog at her home for 3 months until the patient was well and discharged from the hospital. Andrea has created a workplace where compassionate care thrives and is an inspiration to the nurses she leads.
