Andrea Crippen was the only nurse available for about an hour, but that hour had a big impact on us. From the moment she came in, she was kind and sympathetic. P was on comfort care and actively passing when she took over his care. My grandparents were having a very hard time with the passing of P. Andrea helped answer all of their questions, helped keep P cleaned up, and ordered a cart of snacks and drinks for us. She hugged my grandma and helped talk through the process after P passed. Andrea told us about the memory jars that RiverBend makes, which have fingerprints and a clipping of the heartbeat of the patient. Even though her shift was over, Andrea stayed an hour past the end of her shift, unpaid, to make 25 of the memory jars so all of us could have one. She was extremely kind and really helped make this horrible experience a little better. I wish I could thank her in person.
