CAPT Andrea Petrovanie-Green provided belief and encouragement in me, more than I had in myself. I cannot state how much her support and guidance during that time carried me through to graduation.
There are many stories where my special nominee has demonstrated inspirational and transformational leadership throughout her almost 30 year Navy career and lifetime. CAPT P-G has influenced and shaped my own career very early on and I am confident this holds true for hundreds of nurses worldwide. Through her example she showed me what "service over self" and "taking care of yourself so you can care for others" are all about. She always took time to reach out and mentor me and those around her- the corpsman, nurses, and baby docs. She's the one who encouraged me to pursue my advanced degree. She helped me with my package and shared everything (resources, her application package, etc.), and even took time to review my package. What's more, is she provided belief and encouragement in me, more than I had in myself. I cannot state how much her support and guidance during that time carried me through to graduation. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner which I absolutely love. I have been successful in my own career because nurses like CAPT P-G have been there to guide, to listen, to share time, knowledge and wisdom, and simple CARE. CAPT P-G has touched and influenced so many lives throughout her career with grace and genuineness. She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
