Andrea Roberts, RN
My 88-year-old father was a patient for six days. This was a difficult time for the family since we had not had any major health issues with Dad.
Andrea was fantastic from day one until his release. She was attentive, an awesome listener, respectful, considerate, paid attention to details, and made us feel like we were her family.
She calmed him with humor, and that helped him trust her and follow her directions to keep him safe and comfortable. She constantly repositioned him to keep him comfortable. He developed ear pain, and she immediately came with a heating pad and figured a way to hold it against his ear.
She always made sure he was comfortable and put heated blankets on when cold. She multi-tasked between working at ER, Dialysis, and monitoring heart monitors and still made sure that dad was taken care of. She always had a smile on her face and never complained in the middle of two-day snowstorms. She made sure we had a place to camp out overnight and stay with dad.
Dad loved her!
I worked in an ER for years, and I've seen many good nurses, but I've never seen any of them have the skill set and drive she has. Andrea is the kind of person I would never want to lose if I were the person trying to retain top-notch nurses. I can't think of one bad thing to say about her. My dad can be a bit challenging at times, and she handled him with ease and respect.
