If I were to have another baby and I could choose my nurse, I would definitely ask for Andrea.
Andrea Smith was my nurse the day my son was born. I was very nervous, coming in to be induced at about noon by Dr. T. It was my 3rd delivery, but I was still anxious. Andrea was so encouraging and supportive through the process, and her kindness and encouragement helped me labor and deliver without an epidural (which was my goal). In the beginning she helped me laugh (she has a great sense of humor), and as my discomfort increased, she suggested different positions and strategies for dealing with the pain, and gave me as much space as possible (while still doing her job and making sure my baby was safe).
After my son was born, she helped me get comfortable nursing him (it had been almost seven years since my last baby), and she praised me, my husband, and my mom for giving birth without drugs. My husband and mom stayed with me the whole time, doing anything I asked to help with the pain.
