Andrea was so very kind, always with a smile and a great attitude.

My 76-year-old father has been fighting bladder cancer for the past several years. After four days of going back and forth from ER's and ambulances and being admitted and released, he had bladder surgery overnight with a three-way catheter. The next morning he was released and we returned in the evening again. He was, again, admitted and placed on the 4th floor.

While under Andrea's care, who also made sure that he ate and remained comfortable, it was deemed necessary that he needed another three-way catheter. I gave fair warning that he is very difficult to cath. It took two tries in the ER a couple of days prior to this. Even his physician has difficulty. In addition, he had swelling and irritation from the surgery and previous catheter. Andrea truly did her very best, but was unable to get it in. She did not continue to force it, nor did the girl assisting her. Andrea was so kind and apologetic and made a point of not having the second shift nurse, coming on soon, try as well. She called the doctor in, as he was expecting the call.

Andrea was so very kind, always with a smile and a great attitude. She was willing to do anything for my father, her patient, and the family. Andrea made it a point to come and say good-bye and goodnight and that she would be off for a couple of days, but would see him Saturday, if he was still here. She said that she would pray that he would be doing much better by then. Andrea is a true treasure. She is the kind of person that a nurse should be.
