Andrew Addison, RN IV

Andrew Addison built a strong rapport with a patient who had special needs. He earned this patient’s trust through his compassionate care and understanding. With this rapport, Andrew was able to start an IV on this patient, which was necessary for the procedure. He also provided reassurance about the procedure he was about to undergo. When the patient was heading back to the OR, Andrew changed into OR scrubs to be with him every step of the way. Andrew held the patient’s hand and talked with him to provide comfort. This patient didn’t want to speak to anyone else except Andrew. He showed true compassionate care that was tailored to this patient’s needs. He understood the anxiety of the OR and provided the needed reassurance. Andrew even offered to be there when the surgery was completed as well.
