Andrew Bear, RN

My dear friend was admitted to the hospital and was very sick at 89 years old. Her nurse that night, and in the days that followed, was Andrew, and I would like to nominate him for this award. From day one, he went above and beyond to care for my friend. He was always willing to answer our questions and showed the most patience I’ve seen in a long time. Not once did he make us feel like we were bothering him. Sometimes it feels like compassion can fade when a patient reaches a certain age, but Andrew treated her with dignity, kindness, and genuine care. This meant so much to us because everything feels different when the sick person is someone you love. What Andrew did for my friend was extraordinary, and he deserves not only this award but also so many heartfelt thank-yous.
