Many people are quick to say that I am difficult, but Andrew never prejudged me based on what others said. From the very beginning, he treated me as an individual and took the time to understand my experiences and concerns for himself.

Andrew was always punctual in getting me my medication and consistently prioritized my comfort and well-being. During some of the hardest and most emotional moments of my care, he stood by me. He witnessed interactions that caused me anxiety and distress, and rather than looking away, he chose to be present.

More importantly, Andrew did not just witness those moments. He offered a helping hand and an open heart. He listened to the issues I raised, asked thoughtful questions, and shared advice and resources whenever he could. We shared laughter and meaningful conversations at times when many professionals might have become uncomfortable or withdrawn.

Andrew stayed. He valued accountability and was willing to acknowledge learning gaps, whether they stemmed from education, training, or life experience. That level of honesty and self-awareness is rare.

I would choose Andrew any day, and I would choose him over most nurses I have encountered. If empathy, compassion, and humor could be taught, I would recommend Andrew as the teacher. There is a great deal that many nurses on this floor could learn from him.

This job can be emotionally heavy, yet Andrew does not treat it as merely a business or shield himself behind detachment the way I have seen others do. He brings genuine humanity to his work and keeps that humanity alive in every interaction. For that, I am deeply grateful.

Thank you, Andrew, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
