Emergency surgery brought Andrew Hebert unexpectantly into my life. He is a very special, kind and caring young person.
I am a 68-year-old woman, never been hospitalized (except for babies), and when Andrew told me that he was going to be my nurse, I wasn't exactly excited to have a male nurse care for me. I told my husband I wasn't sure about this, but then realized I was being old-fashioned and that men could be nurses too!
I guess Andrew realized he needed to gain my trust and confidence. He was always so soft-spoken, caring, and kind. He reminded me of my 2 sons-in-law, whom I adore. We laughed and joked. He would explain everything to me and always made sure I was comfortable with him.
One night I was restless. At 2 am, I just couldn't sleep so I asked for decaf coffee. Andrew went and got some for me. When I was hungry and couldn't have food, he would console me.
In the end, I was glad to leave, but sadly thinking I was leaving part of my family behind. I truly believe God placed me at the best hospital with the best doctors, nurses, and staff. Andrew Hebert is a true DAISY Nurse!

Thank you, Andrew, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
