AJ made it a point to know when the lab was going to his room and in AJ walks with a stuffed animal!
In July 2020 I was removing the pit from an avocado and the knife went through the pit and [into] my hand. I was thinking I had nicked an artery because I could not stop the bleeding. After rooming, AJ was very sensitive to the fact that I was trying to not bleed on the floor (or anywhere else). He washed up my hand and then we noticed the bleeding had stopped. During the visit with NPPA, my hand was moved in a way where it broke the bleeding open again and unfortunately sprayed the NPPA so bad he had to change clothes. AJ kept coming back to the room to check on me to make sure I was ok. This was during the time of COVID so I had no one in the room with me. I was so embarrassed, but AJ kept reassuring me that it was ok.

After being bandaged up and discharged, I was walking to the pharmacy to fill the RX given to me when my hand broke open again and started pumping blood out. I walked back to the Emergency room and the staff called AJ out to the lobby to see me. He informed me that if I went back in the Emergency room I would be charged again so he took me to a side room and applied pressure and bandages to stop the bleeding. He then called the provider that treated me to come back to assist me. That was going way over and above what AJ had to do. That was so considerate to think of charges that would occur had he brought me back to the room.

In July 2021, my 8-year-old grandson had an accident on a Ranger and was brought to the Emergency room by his mother. AJ happened to be the nurse assigned to them. My grandson has a fear of blood draws. AJ made it a point to know when the lab was going to his room and in AJ walks with a stuffed animal. The timing was impeccable. AJ had also applied a numbing cream on my grandson's arm before the draw. My daughter has always been told that Albert Lea did not have that cream. AJ was my grandson's hero that day.

In both cases, AJ was very gentle/attentive to the patient. As a patient, it felt as though we were the only patients he had at the time. Never rushed and never hurried. When my daughter arrived home, the first words out of her mouth were about the wonderful nurse experience she had with AJ. AJ provides overwhelming care to his patients!
