I would like to shine a light on Nurse Andrew in ICU. Nurse Andrew took care of my father after emergency surgery. He not only received my father as a patient, but he took care of my mother as well. My mother is deaf and does not know sign language, so she reads lips. Being alone at my father's bedside during a pandemic with everyone in masks, you can imagine my mother's anxiety. Nurse Andrew recognized the fact that my mother had no one to support her in understanding instructions or the plan of care for her husband and he became that support. Nurse Andrew went above and beyond for her and made her feel comfortable and informed. He took the extra time to communicate everything with my mother through text messages as well as called me to explain everything. I cannot thank Nurse Andrew enough for the competent, compassionate, and empathic care he gave to both my parents. Nurse Andrew was a hero that day and our entire family will be forever grateful to him.
