When I woke up from my gallbladder removal/liver biopsy surgery, I was in excruciating pain. However, I was immediately aware of a gentle, caring, calming presence at my side. Because of some quirks of my biological makeup, treating my pain is a real challenge. Drew was not deterred by this. He stayed 100% calm and steady through hours of efforts to get the pain under control. He was continuously encouraging and calming and tireless in his efforts to do anything and everything in his power to help me get through it. From the smallest things like letting me squeeze his hand or making sure my warm pack was always exactly the right temperature, to promptly calling the anesthesiologist for approval to raise the dose of medicine, he was fully present and right there with me. Drew made the experience infinitely better than it would have been - with his gentle, warm, reassuring and genuinely caring manner. He was attentive to every detail, extremely patient, and treated me with the type of concern and compassion you would expect someone to show a close friend or family member, despite the fact that I was a stranger. During the worst moments of pain, he honestly felt like an angel to me. Drew is a model of what every medical professional should be and he certainly deserves to be recognized for the exceptional job he is doing. I am extremely grateful to him for the care he provided.
