Andrew embodies everything that is exceptional about nursing, and our family will forever be grateful for the hope, strength, and kindness he brought into our lives.
I am writing to nominate Andrew Rosas for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary care he provided to my son, W, after a traumatic burn injury. In our darkest moments, Andrew was the guiding light, helping us find our way through an unimaginable ordeal with an unwavering kindness, expertise, and compassion that I have rarely, if ever, encountered.
From the very beginning, Andrew treated W as if he were his own family. I have never met a nurse so attentive, so dedicated, and so incredibly thoughtful. He not only cared for W's physical wounds but truly understood the emotional toll this took on our family. Stepping in with the support and reassurance we didn't even know we needed, Andrew saw us as a whole unit, and every time he entered the room, he brought a sense of calm and hope that can only be described as lifesaving.
Beyond addressing W's medical needs, Andrew made sure to look after my husband and me in ways that went well beyond the expected. He would check in on us regularly, offering water, comforting words, and steady guidance through a process that was foreign and terrifying. It was clear that he cared about our entire family, and in a situation that felt like an absolute nightmare, Andrew became our one bright spot—the one who brought light and hope, the one leading us out of despair.
Because of Andrew's compassionate presence, W is healing beautifully, and so are we. He has truly made a profound difference in our lives, not only through his skills and dedication but through his genuine, caring spirit. Andrew embodies everything that is exceptional about nursing, and our family will forever be grateful for the hope, strength, and kindness he brought into our lives.
For his unmatched compassion, dedication, and ability to guide us through our darkest days, Andrew is more than deserving of the DAISY Award.
