Recently, my husband and I began our month-long trip in a new RV. Our first trip was Hunting Island Beach State Park, 325 miles from home. The next morning, my husband was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with severe abdominal pain. Andy Scott, our nurse on the fourth floor, was a fellow camper and proved to be extremely helpful. Andy showed us pictures of his RV. When he found out what happened to us, he called Kathleen Stovall who was on her day off. Andy asked Kathleen to take me to Hunting Island Beach to get clothes. Kathleen spent the afternoon just helping me. The campground told me that I had to move the van each day because the sites were reserved. This was going to be a difficult task since I had no car and the campground was 20 miles away. Kathleen asked me what the van needed when parked. I told her just electricity. She told me she would check with plant services to see if the hospital had a parking spot with electricity. The next afternoon two hospital employees from plant services were in our room. We were so amazed when they agreed to go and get our van right then. I was so grateful for this offer because I never drove the van and the bridge to Hunting Island terrified me. They drove the van back, plugged it into electricity, and told me they would keep an eye on it. I felt like these people were my angels.
