Andy had been assigned to care for a patient that had been in our ICU for a lengthy stay. Andy had developed a rapport with the patient and his wife. He had asked to care for him after. The patient and his wife appreciated Andy's care and concerns. Andy was assigned to care for the patient on the day of his passing. Andy's shift had ended and the patient was in the dying process. Andy had asked if he could stay until the end. He was compassionate to the patient and his wife.

The patient's wife did not deal with her husband's passing. As the patient took his last breath, Andy held the patient's hand while his wife had excused herself from the room. Andy stayed several hours after his shift ended. This shows true dedication and commitment through Andy's excellent care.
