I recently had the opportunity to witness Aneesha's extraordinary care for a patient who came to the OR more than once. This patient was very critically ill and, among many things, was desperately in need of some hygienic care. At the end of the procedure, Aneesha gathered supplies and helpers to give the patient a quick but thorough bed bath, hair and face wash, and fresh linens. The difference in his appearance was night and day, and I can only imagine how the patient's family members felt when they saw their loved one looking clean and more like himself. This isn't something we typically do in the OR, and I don't believe anyone asked Aneesha to do this. She knew it was the right thing and went above and beyond for the patient. On top of that, she gracefully handled multiple extremely difficult cases, one of which involved an emergent procedure to save the patient's life and limb.

I believe from the bottom of my heart that no nurse could have tackled those surgeries the way she did. Her efficiency, knowledge, and compassion benefited the patient in so many ways.  I'm constantly impressed by Aneesha's skill as an OR nurse. But more than that, I'm so inspired by how hard she worked to maintain the patient's dignity throughout all this. She humanized him. She treated him with the respect every patient deserves. She embodied Wesley's mission statement perfectly: "The care and improvement of human life." She went above and beyond and provided care for the whole person. She's an amazing nurse and an even better person. Her patients and Wesley are very fortunate to have her.
