October 2023 Honoree
Aneli C Adame, BSN, RN
Aneli Adame was the 1st RN I had on the 6th floor. I was admitted for a partial small bowel obstruction, which cleared with an NG tube after 4 days. On day 4 I mentioned that I did not have any meds for my IHSS-Atenolol and was becoming symptomatic. She advocated for me with the Hospitalist to no avail. When he did arrive, she stayed in the room as a supportive advocate. Being a retired RN and a patient, it is exhausting being in both roles when things unexpectedly arise. She was able to get my Cardiologist contacted which led to a pacemaker insertion. Without her diligent tenacity things could have spiraled out of control. My resting heart rate usually was 40 beats per minute although I was asymptomatic.
Thank you, Aneli C, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
