Aney was assigned to a room with three babies at the beginning of the shift. Later she got two more admissions after discharging a baby. Admission and discharge at the same time can be very hectic in nurseries when you have no one to help. No matter how busy she is, she always spent time with her patients and parents to explain about their baby's condition. This particular day I noticed her sitting on the floor with crying parents to explain to them about their sick baby. She was very compassionate and the way she took time from her busy assignment to console the parents was above and beyond. The parents really appreciated her taking the time to explain the baby's condition. This is just one incident, she always goes above and beyond to help our new physicians, residents, and nurses. She also trains our nursing students and interns. Her commitment to help our internal and external clients is remarkable. I think she deserves to be appreciated and acknowledged for her compassionate and dedicated service to our facility and to our community. Aney is striving every day to meet the mission and vision of Harris Health System/ Ben Taub Hospital.
