Angelina’s dedication to supporting pediatric oncology patients and their families while continuing to lead with excellence in her professional role is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse, a leader, and a compassionate human being.
Angelina Becker exemplifies the heart of nursing leadership through her unwavering compassion, advocacy, and community engagement. While her professional role at Banner Health involves overseeing critical operations in the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health, Angelina’s impact extends far beyond the walls of our hospital.
Seven years ago, Angelina’s daughter was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Through this deeply personal journey, she experienced firsthand the healing power of compassionate care provided by the Pediatric Oncology team at BUMCT. Today, her daughter is an 11-year-old survivor in remission, a testament to hope, resilience, and the strength of our healthcare community.
In response to this experience, Angelina and her family have committed themselves to an annual fundraiser supporting children in active cancer treatment. This year, she identified a pressing need for everyday essentials among families undergoing treatment and has taken it upon herself to organize a donation drive, personally coordinating collection and pickup efforts. Her initiative is not only generous, but it is also deeply human. Angelina’s actions reflect the Banner Health mission to "make health care easier, so life can be better." She embodies our values of compassion, community, and excellence by turning personal adversity into a source of healing for others. Her leadership is not confined to her title; it radiates through her empathy, her advocacy, and her commitment to making a difference.
This is the essence of the DAISY Award: honoring nurses who go above and beyond in delivering extraordinary care. Angelina’s dedication to supporting pediatric oncology patients and their families while continuing to lead with excellence in her professional role is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse, a leader, and a compassionate human being.
