I would like to nominate Angel from the cardiac unit. I had a laser ablation performed, and Angel was my nurse. I had her previously when I had my cardiac catheterization procedure, and she was excellent then, too.  I was all set to leave at 5:30 pm and was signing my discharge paperwork when I started to feel clammy and nauseous.  She immediately sat me down, and then I lay down.  I was reattached to the telemetry, and a new IV was started. My BP was 76/44. A liter of fluid was pushed. I started feeling better. She contacted my surgeon, who came up and did an ultrasound of my heart. They told me everything looked good.

My CP slowly kept increasing until I was up to 110/62. Then I was given the choice by my doctor to spend the night in the hospital or go home.  Since I was feeling better, I opted to go home. Angel's shift ended at 5 pm. I was discharged at 6:45 and Angel brought me out to our vehicle. By the time we left it was 7 pm and her shift ended two hours before. That didn't seem to phase her.

She was professional, kind, compassionate and caring. I may have to have a pacemaker put in. If I do, I hope Angel will be my nurse again.

Methodist Hospital is blessed to have a nurse like Angel.

Thank you, Angel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
