Angel's collaborative spirit extends beyond our department, as she works with other teams and external partners to improve patient care and nursing practice.
I am pleased to nominate Angel Hogan, BSN, RN, for the IONL DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Angel is an extraordinary nurse leader who has made a tremendous impact on our team, patients, and the broader healthcare community. Her leadership, dedication to education, and commitment to advocacy truly set her apart. Angel consistently goes above and beyond to enhance nursing practice, improve patient safety, and foster a culture of respect and inclusivity. Her contributions to our organization and the nursing profession are invaluable, and she is highly deserving of this recognition.
Leadership: Angels' leadership is rooted in a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to excellence. As the newly elected Treasurer of the SWIONL District, she plays an active role in shaping nursing leadership in our region. She is dedicated to improving organizational processes and the patient experience, and her efforts have resulted in tangible improvements within our team. One of Angel's key initiatives was revamping the new hire orientation process to make it more streamlined and valuable. This initiative has not only increased efficiency but also created a better onboarding experience for new nurses, ensuring they are well-prepared to succeed in their roles. In addition to her work with orientation, Angel led the standardization of our intake process, which has significantly improved patient safety and reduced workplace violence and patient incidents. She has also taken the lead on several projects, including training staff on the use of newly installed walk-by metal detectors in our intake areas. Angel's leadership has been instrumental in ensuring both patient and staff safety, and she actively volunteers to take on training for new equipment and initiatives.
Education:  Angel is deeply committed to the education and professional development of her team. She actively mentors new hires, guiding them through their orientation and offering support to ensure their success. Angel takes great pride in helping others grow, and her mentorship is one of her strongest qualities. She is dedicated to providing ongoing education and reinforcement of competencies throughout the year to ensure her team remains up to date with best practices and is equipped to deliver the highest standard of care. Angel has also made significant strides in her own professional development. Over the past two years, she has met all of her Professional Development goals, demonstrating her commitment to advancing her own career while encouraging others to do the same. Her dedication to learning and growth is evident in her daily work, and she encourages her team to take the same approach.
Advocacy:  Angel is a strong advocate for nursing and works to elevate the profession. She is actively involved in professional organizations such as AONL, IONL, and APNA. Her involvement allows her to stay informed on the latest trends in nursing leadership, and she brings that knowledge back to our team to improve our practices. Angel is also committed to advocating for her colleagues, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to succeed. She consistently advocates for better working conditions, professional development opportunities, and recognition for nursing staff.  Angels' advocacy extends beyond our organization. She actively participates in conferences and forums at the local, state, and national levels, continuously pushing for improvements in nursing practice. Her advocacy helps shape the future of nursing, and she uses her platform to ensure that the voices of nurses are heard.
