Angel was kind and considerate and gave my mom and me space to say goodbye throughout the night.
My mom was admitted to Christiana Hospital after they were unable to determine what was causing her illness. She was transferred to NCCU and she began to rapidly deteriorate. I stayed with her through the day and night after we removed her intubation. Angel's shift started not long after the rest of my family left on Sunday night. She made sure I was comfortable, in a reclining chair with a pillow and blankets, so I could hold my mom's hand throughout the night until she passed. She quietly checked on my mom every hour so as not to disturb us - or me during the few periods I slept. She gave me updates on expected timing every few hours based on my mom's changing condition, and she woke me immediately early on Monday after she checked on my mom when the monitors at the nurse's station indicated her heart had stopped beating. She was kind and considerate and gave my mom and me space to say goodbye throughout the night. Thank you - you truly are an angel.
