My 20-year-old daughter arrived had to stay overnight in the ER before a room was assigned. She was very scared due to the graveness of her diagnosis. Angel received her in the room and made her comfortable from the first encounter. She always came in bright, cheery, and upbeat. She always engaged with my daughter to allow a great relationship to develop. We were very comfortable expressing our concerns for our daughter's treatment and she was always willing to listen or explain to us anything we were unsure about. Angel always updated the board and left encouraging messages for my daughter which made her smile. She did not want Angel's shift to end.
Angel walked in as we were praying because my daughter was anxious before a spinal tap and she joined in on the prayer. She genuinely shows concern for my daughter and tries to dote on her as she encourages her. She is always available for us and ensures our needs are met. She has become like family to us. She celebrates good reports with us and has always been an advocate for my daughter since we arrived. She enjoys what she does, and it is evident in the care that she gives her patients and the patients loved ones. She has been a bright spot for our family in a time of uncertainty.
Angel continues to lift up prayers for our daughter, blows her kisses and tells her she loves her. She even comforted her through a decision to have another spinal tap, while allowing her to make her own decision. Regardless of what her father and I wanted, she ensured that our daughter's decision was shared with her health care professionals. Her compassion, professionalism, and passion for her job are simply undeniable, and as a result, we could not pass up an opportunity to recognize her. We have grown to love and appreciate her. Her infectious smile and comforting banter made her our favorite nurse ever!
Note: This is Angel's 2nd DAISY Award!
