Angel consistently exemplifies exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered care. I frequently hear unsolicited compliments from patients, families, and colleagues recognizing the profound impact she has during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. One story in particular captures the essence of Angel’s practice. A patient arrived in the Emergency Department believing that night may be her last. She and her family were understandably overwhelmed and deeply rooted in prayer, expressing their Catholic faith throughout the encounter. Angel recognized not only the patient's clinical needs, but also the emotional and spiritual gravity of the moment. With authenticity and compassion, she shared that she had a family member who was a Cardinal and asked if the patient's family could have her family member pray for the patient. This simple yet deeply meaningful act created a powerful connection. The patient and her family were profoundly moved and continued to speak about Angel’s kindness, empathy, and presence long after their visit. In a moment of fear and uncertainty, Angel brought comfort, dignity, and peace.
