Ms. Casias has been the leader for many patient care improvement initiatives. She has been the lead manager and nurse in the telemedicine eye screening for retinopathy in 5 ambulatory settings. She also helped Healogics integrate into University Health System to elevated the level of care for our patients with wounds and who need our hyperbaric services.
Ms. Casias is currently working on developing a robust Diabetic service line to incorporate all areas of specialty our patients may need when managing their diabetes and the related health issues. She has led the process for establishing the standard of care in ambulatory to ensure the highest level of patient care is being delivered in our primary care clinics. Her direction has allowed our Patient Education Department to expand which has led to the development of high-quality patient education that covers an array of services - from smoking cessation to cooking classes for patients on dialysis.
Ms. Casias is involved in our Magnet journey, she believes in our vision and provides support in either providing stories and/or working with management to maintain our status. She does all this for University Health System but most importantly she supports nurses.
Ms. Casias is a nurse first and foremost and she brings that to everything she is involved in. Many times she is the only nurse in management meetings and she reminds managers how the decisions that are made impact the patient and the nurse providing those services. She believes the nurse is invaluable and has an insight to patients that many people overlook. When she is involved in determining direct patient care initiatives she seeks the advice and guidance of frontline nurses to help her when she is making her decisions.
As an educator, I know Ms. Casias supports our initiatives and sees the importance of training our staff which will provide high-level patient care. She is a fair and balanced manager that at all times puts the care of our patients first.
