I have worked with nurse midwife Angie Cassel since her hire. This nurse midwife is an amazing woman who goes above and beyond for her patients. No matter the situation she is always appropriate and considerate of those in her care. There have been many times that we, the LPN staff in the office, have had to call her for advice to discuss a concerning situation with a laboring patient or postpartum concern. She is kind, thoughtful, and reassuring to staff and patients. Postpartum patients who have had her for delivery and return to the office for their final visit always speak of her with high regard. She is without bias and treats others with kind regard regardless of social status, ethnic background, or emotional status. I have observed her in more than one emotionally charged family situation. Angie handles herself with such great concern and compassion for the patient and is able to calm the situation and work to resolve the problems in the kindest manner. There have been instances when we have phoned her at the Family Place regarding a patient and she has made the time in her day to walk to the office to see the patients. I have also known of times when patients on the phone have been upset with their physical diagnosis (example: Finding out they have gestational diabetes or a repeat ultrasound is needed and they are overly concerned), Angie will call the patient, have them come into the office on her time, or provide the much needed extra explanation to the LPN staff for the patient to have the reassurance needed. In my many years of working with her, I have always observed her have a kind thoughtful manner. Her greatest gift to our OB/GYN office and the Family Place is her compassion and concern for her patients, her gentle spirit, and her kind heart. I have great admiration for her.
