Angela quickly assessed the situation and caught the baby as the mother delivered in a wheelchair in the hall.
Angela, Jennifer and Quinette are Radiology nurses that were working in radiology procedural areas on the day of this event. Quinette heard someone screaming from the hallway by the elevators and went out to assist. She found a pregnant woman with a baby’s head crowning and called for more assistance. Angela and Jennifer ran to help from the radiology observation unit and Angela quickly assessed the situation and caught the baby as the mother delivered in a wheelchair in the hall. Fortunately, Angela had previous L&D experience and Jennifer had NICU experience. They worked together to transfer the patient and baby to a stretcher and went to a more private location to deliver the placenta and cut the cord. Shortly after, the L&D and the NICU team arrived to assume care. Mom and baby did great, and everyone is happy and healthy. It is so fortunate these nurses were nearby. They went above and beyond what is expected of a Radiology Nurse! They are always willing to step up and this is a prime example of the excellent care they give on a daily basis.
