Angela Fichtner is dedicated to her career, and she goes above and beyond in all areas of nursing. She is compassionate and caring to all patients. We had a patient experiencing a loss in our unit; although these are always sad situations, this one was a bit different. The patient was not coping well.

Angela delivered the patient and then after her shift went to Michael's for some supplies to create a keepsake for her. She filled a small teddy bear with rice the weight of her baby that passed, cut a ribbon that is the length of the baby, and placed other mementos in a beautiful box for the family to cherish forever. The patient clutched onto that bear for the rest of her stay and as she was discharged from the unit, she hugged it tight as she left with tears in her eyes. Angela has also donated many supplies to continue to gift these mementos to our demise patients as an idea that “no one leaves empty-handed.” Angela goes above and beyond each day to make these patients feel special, and honored. LVMC is so lucky to have her.
