There was no stone unturned to make him as comfortable as possible, helping soothe him.
In September, my husband was admitted to Goshen Hospital for brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Because this was the second treatment, we thought we knew what to expect. However, due to a number of challenges, the procedure took much longer and left him discouraged and in pain. That’s where the second-floor recovery nurses came in. I can’t say enough good about ALL the nurses, but especially Nurse Angie. She knew what had happened and had an idea of what my husband was experiencing. She stayed with us, brought a menu for food (for both of us), and kept checking on my husband. There was no stone unturned to make him as comfortable as possible, helping soothe him. She stayed even though all of her other patients were gone, telling him not to worry, and that she would stay until he could go to the bathroom and go home. (She knew he was nervous about going to the bathroom before we left because we live 45 minutes away.) She was patient, very helpful, and kind. We were so thankful she took the time to help us both calm down. When we got ready to leave, she took us down to the car even though she might have gone beyond her hours of work that day. She took a stressful situation and made it so the last thing we remembered was how wonderful she was! We still talk about her and how much of a difference she made, how she took time for us.
