Most importantly, she treated our baby with the most compassion and love I could have ever asked for. She made a tough and scary time, not so scary.
By the time my husband and I arrived at Riley with our 1 month old baby, we were mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. We felt exhaustion to our very core. Seeing your 1 month old baby in pain, misery, and being unable to help them is the most helpless feeling in the world and it becomes hard to focus on sleeping, eating, drinking. (Taking care of yourself in general.) Angie met us and INSTANTLY sympathized with us. She instantly connected and stressed the importance of REST for US so that we could be the best for our BABY. She encouraged me to have a meal knowing I breastfed and she gave me so much grace, so much compassion, and I could see that she genuinely cared at a time when I so desperately needed that grace and encouragement most. Angie also BENT OVER BACKWARDS to make sure we were comfortable. I’m convinced she would have done absolutely whatever it took to get us whatever we wanted or needed for us OR our baby. We were initially put in a small room that wasn’t really a room because all rooms were full at the time we were admitted, we were disappointed at first because we were so exhausted, but Angie MADE that room what we needed it to be. She hunted down a cot for us to sleep on, she provided extra blankets and pillows. She also, loaned me her own personal charger so that I could charge my phone and continue to stay in contact with our family back home. Most importantly, she treated our baby with the most compassion and love I could have ever asked for. She made a tough and scary time, not so scary. Our baby was in great hands and so were we. We could not be more thankful for ALL the nurses and staff at Riley Children’s Hospital. BUT most importantly OUR nurse, Angie. She is the true definition of what quality, compassionate healthcare should be. We cannot thank her enough for the love she showed our family in our greatest time of need.
