Angie quickly reached out to our nurse navigator and case manager to coordinate the services needed to support this new mother mentally, physically, and financially.
Angie was caring for a postpartum patient whose original plan was to place her infant up for adoption. The patient was very emotional and uncertain of her decision. As Angie cared for this mother, she learned some of her concerns and resource barriers she was facing which brought her to consider adoption. Angie was supportive of this mother and was her advocate by allowing her privacy and alone time to collect her thoughts and be at peace with her decision.

Angie showed compassion to the adoptive family during this uncertain time and ultimately supported them emotionally when the adoption plans changed. Angie quickly reached out to our nurse navigator and case manager to coordinate the services needed to support this new mother mentally, physically, and financially. Throughout her shift, she remained a positive patient advocate while showing compassion and support to all parties involved. During the follow-up phone call to the patient, she stated she was grateful for the support she received from the nursing staff and never felt "judged" by staff when she made the decision to keep her baby.
