Angela Swindall, RN
I arrived at UCSF (MHMC) terrified after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Angela's warmth and positivity immediately brought me comfort during an incredibly frightening time.
Her extensive knowledge and the way she explained my condition helped me better understand what was happening. She patiently answered every one of my questions and never made me feel rushed. Just seeing Angela was enough to brighten my day, whether she was checking on me in my room or calling out words of encouragement as I slowly walked the halls.
She genuinely cared about me as a person, and it showed in every interaction. What could have been a lonely and discouraging hospital stay became an experience where I felt confident that I was exactly where I needed to be.
Angela made me laugh when I needed it most. She eased my fears by sharing the plan of care, keeping me informed every step of the way, and taking a sincere interest in helping solve my unique situation.
Over the years, I have spent a great deal of time in hospitals while my parents received medical care and while my husband underwent chemotherapy. In all of those experiences, I have never encountered a nurse as compassionate, kind, knowledgeable, and extraordinary as Angela.
She is truly a world-class nurse and an exceptional human being. I know I will miss her smile, her positivity, and the confidence she inspired in me as I continue my recovery."
