I work alongside Angela on the surgical unit. As our CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist), she has a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to share her expertise. She continuously goes above and beyond for the safety of our patients. When a staff member comes up to her with an issue, no matter how small, she always investigates to find the answer and loop back to them. I have heard her in multiple meetings with many teams, advocating from the nurses' perspective on policy or procedure change. She supports evidence-based care and wants to make sure it is as seamless as possible for nurses to implement. Not only does she want to ensure the safety of our patients, as well as staff, but she wants to do so equitably. She has been a part of several measures to improve the inclusivity of care we provide at Seattle Children's, including facilitating the interpreter apps being placed on Rover phones and implementing the diverse hair care products. She has also added an "equity issues" category to the morning huddle whiteboard to call out any situations that may need follow-up. Angela embodies all of the characteristics that any great leader should have.
