Angela's influence extends beyond throughput and her own department and into others.
Angela is a compassionate leader who advocates for our hospitals and community. She makes efforts to create awareness of patient population needs, readmissions, barriers to discharge, and complex patients. She assures her department is supported through huddles, meetings, educational sessions, and growth. She implements change in process and ensures that the change makes sense for her team and our patients. She speaks highly of her team and the work they do. She takes ownership if there are challenges to work on. She spends extra time with patients who face obstacles to improving their health.
Recently, a patient discharged from the hospital continues to call Angela for guidance as they have little support in the community. Angela isn't afraid to step up to a challenge, notably when the situation requires a deeper dive and involves multiple agencies. She consistently collaborates with multiple departments, including hospital leadership and system leadership, to help improve throughput. She attends the border huddle and ensures there is a designee if she cannot attend; she and her team provide discharges and # of medically ready daily.
Angela's influence extends beyond throughput and her own department and into others. She helps to cover other leaders' time off, picks up time as ACC (Nurse supervisor) when there are gaps in coverage, and in general is a positive force on our teams. We are so grateful to have Angela as a Leader at Newark and Clifton!
