Angelina came into the room, hugged me, and let me talk about how robbed I had felt from a normal postpartum experience.
Angelia was sent from heaven above to be with me that night, at least that’s how it feels. At 4 weeks postpartum, I found myself in the New Albany ER. I was in a considerable amount of pain and still freshly filled with post-baby hormones. I found out I had to have emergency gallbladder surgery, and all I wanted to do was go home. My partner had just left with our baby to go back home since they said I would be there overnight waiting for a bed at Grant, and I couldn’t stop crying. Nothing was going right. I had an extremely traumatic birth; my child had to go to the NICU, and we had just started to become a family. I was a mess. Angelia came into the room, hugged me, and let me talk about how robbed I had felt from a normal postpartum experience. She shared with me her own struggles with a traumatic birth and made me feel like I wasn’t alone. She advocated with the hospital to get a bed sooner so I didn’t have to wait forever to be back with my baby. I felt so helpless and alone, and I truly felt like she saved a part of me that night. I hope she knows how much her kindness affects those around her.
