Angelina Morales
I am honored to nominate Angelina for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students. During our Medical-Surgical clinical, I observed her consistently demonstrate compassion, initiative, and a genuine dedication to patient-centered care. One moment that truly stood out to me was when Angelina recognized that a patient was struggling not only physically, but emotionally. The patient was having difficulty feeding herself and appeared withdrawn and discouraged. Without being asked, Angelina stepped in to help feed her, taking the time to sit with her, talk with her, and provide comfort and encouragement throughout the interaction.
What made this moment so meaningful was not just the task itself, but the way Angelina approached it, with patience, kindness, and genuine presence. She treated the patient with dignity and respect, ensuring she felt seen and cared for rather than rushed or overlooked. By the end of the interaction, the patient's demeanor had noticeably changed. She appeared more at ease, more engaged, and expressed clear gratitude for the care she received. This experience reflects the type of nurse Angelina is becoming. She does not wait to be told what to do, but she anticipates needs, takes initiative, and prioritizes both the physical and emotional well-being of her patients. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure patients feel supported and valued.
In addition to her clinical strengths, Angelina is an outstanding student and teammate. She is hardworking, engaged, and consistently produces high-quality work. She is kind and respectful to classmates and contributes to a positive, collaborative learning environment. Angelina's passion for nursing is especially evident in her interest in the NICU. When she speaks about caring for newborns and their families, her excitement and dedication are clear. Combined with her strong values and genuine compassion, she will undoubtedly make an exceptional nurse. Angelina truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award through her compassion, initiative, and commitment to excellence in nursing care. I am confident she will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients and those around her.
