Angeline is one of the most outstanding nurses in the ICU. She truly sets an example for those who observe her practice. Angeline competently and enthusiastically volunteers to precept new hires. She is a highly competent nurse who serves as a resource to her peers. She serves as a Charge and Rapid Response RN. She collaborates with her fellow staff members, MD, RT, and other multi-disciplinary groups daily to ensure that she is always advocating for her patients.
Recently, Angeline was caring for a critically ill woman who had to have a trach and peg placed as treatment progressed. Her family was distressed over her condition, especially as the patient was starting to wake up and realize how her condition had changed. The husband was anxious about the patient's emotional wellbeing and had extensive conversations with Angeline. Angeline worked with the physician groups to allow her to bring the patient outside. The patient loved to feel the breeze on her face and the family was elated. They called the following day to tell the charge nurse about how compassionate and exceptional Angeline was in all of her practice. She truly goes above and beyond to address the needs of her patients.
She is truly exceptional in practice and advocates for patient needs each and every day. It is with pride that I nominate her for this award.
