We are nominating Angel for always going above and beyond. She came into the unit when she heard the unit was short-staffed to help relieve staff for breaks and run some errands for the unit. This was after she had helped teach the staff all day at a skills fair. She is the ICU champ for wound care and helps staff with any wound care-related issues. As a preceptor, her orientees describe her as fair, full of knowledge, but will not tolerate "laziness". She is also a falls/safe patient mobility champion, helping educate new hires during NEO and as an expert in the department on the safe use of lift equipment. Angel is also part of the unit practice council. Angel is one of our ICU informal leaders and a subject matter expert in numerous nursing clinical areas. A "go to" person. Her outlook is always positive and engaging. On a few occasions during our patient rounds, families have complimented her as a knowledgeable nurse and compassionate in her relations with patients and families. Angel makes herself accessible to work on projects and believes in evidence-based practice, which is reflected in the way she practices. She continuously strives for professional improvement and seeks experiences that foster growth for her and her peers. Patient first is her motto. We are lucky to have Angel caring for our patients.
